If you’re staying at Hermann Hill this weekend, and you’re looking for something to do, you have come to the right place!  July 4th is Approaching fast, and the numerous July 4th festivities are approaching even faster.  Every year, Hermann gets a head start on Independence Day  at the July 4th kickoff celebration held on Thursday, July third at the Clara Eitmann Messmer Amphitheater located at the corner of Fourth and Gutenburg.  This year, talented guitarist and vocalist Steve Leslie will be performing along with Rayann Leslie, Missy Nobel, and Danette Eckelkamp on vocals, Wes Alfermann on guitar and saxophone, Ben Holtmeyer on percussion, Ken Schmitt on guitar and vocals, and Larry Alfermann on bass guitar.  The performance will begin at 7:30 and is expected to be a rockin’ good time!  So, grab a blanket, and one of our picnic specials, and head out to this free musical even sponsored by the Hermann Arts Council.
After getting pumped up by Steve Leslie and his band on the third, make sure and join us for a second day of fun for a ton of Fourth of July festivities.  Start your Independence Day with an informal 5K Run/Walk beginning at 7am at Hermann Fitness source.  After getting some exercise, make sure to come back to the Inn and get a much needed massage, or if you're staying at the cottages, have the massage come to you!  You're going to want to relax before coming out to see Hermann’s annual Independence Day parade (starting at 8th and Washington) at 4 o’clock, followed by the city band concert at the Clara Eitman Messmer Amphitheater at 7, and fireworks ending the day over the river at 9:15.
So please, join our community for a memorable weekend of music, parades, and fireworks, all right here in Hermann, Missouri.  It’s a good time you’ll surely never forget.

July Gift Certificate Winners!

Here at Hermann Hill Vineyard Inn and Spa we’re welcoming the month of July with lots of fun, relaxation and sun.  This summer we are making it our goal to make sure our guests can keep cool while enjoying the outdoor activities with things like our frozen beverage bar, and cookies and ice cream in the evening.  As always, we love hearing from our guests about their stay and experiences here at Hermann Hill and all of the unforgettable times they shared together.  Whether ringing one of our chimes, or spending time out on their patio, it brings us joy to give our guests pleasant memories that will last a lifetime.
Each month this year, two winners will be chosen to receive a $100 Hermann Hill gift certificate.  The winners of the July drawing are Richard and Kelly of Tulsa, OK and Doug and Jessica  of Union, MO.
Richard and Kelly wrote, “We visited Hermann Hill 10 years ago for our honeymoon.  We decided to come back for our anniversary.  We stayed in the same room and even read our journal entry from 10 years ago!  We absolutely loved spending our honeymoon here and I can honestly say your inn has only improved with age.  Every little detail is just perfect.  We are looking forward to many more years, and many more visits to Hermann Hill!”
We love our return guests, just as much as we love new ones.  Thank you Richard and Kelly for sharing your kind words with us, and we hope to see you soon!
Jessica and Doug said, “We have three wonderful children (under the age of 7), but Hermann Hill was the perfect place to rest, relax, and slowdown from our normally crazy life.  We celebrated 10 years of marriage last year by coming to Hermann Hill, and couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate 11 years.  We grilled on the balcony, sat and talked and just enjoyed some “us” time.  Hermann Hill is the perfect getaway from the busy work/family life.  We were able to rejuvenate and go back to our hectic life more relaxed!”
Thank you to all of our guests who come to visit us at Hermann Hill.  We are so happy to give you all to give you these joyous moments that you will remember for years to come.

Lewis & Clark: Vineyard Adventures

                “Lewis, Lewis, Lewis!”
It was the start of another morning, and Clark was chipper as always, trying to awaken Lewis from his peaceful slumber.   ‘Here we go again,’ thought Lewis as he opened one eye only to see Clark hovering a few inches above his head, with his tongue out and his tail wagging.  “Can’t you just relax for one second?” asked Lewis,
“But then we might miss something exciting going on at the vineyard!”  Clark announced while licking Lewis in the face.
“Alright, Alright! Enough already,” said Lewis, “I’ll go on your adventure,” he continued, slowly easing himself up on four legs, “but no jumping on the guests!”
“I would NEVER!” exclaimed Clark, giving Lewis his word.
Lewis and Clark headed out their doggy door and down to the Vineyard side-by-side, passing by the newly sealed concrete, and fish pond.  Clark tried to step up next to the pond, but was quickly given a disapproving look by Lewis, and stepped back, returning to his rightful path.  As they approached the garden, Clark was getting all the more excited to smell the fresh garden roses, and chase the passing butterflies, while Lewis was just enjoying the fresh air.
Lewis and Clark made their way down the stone path, and approached the flourishing vineyard.  Before placing a paw on the grassy earth, they stopped to take in the breathtaking view.  After about two seconds, Clark took off across the Hermann Hill Vineyard calling out behind him, “Catch me if you can!”
Lewis wasn’t far behind, when he approached Clark, who was halted at the end of the yard, peering at the world beyond the vineyard. “What do you think is out there, Lou?” Clark asked, with his head tilted and his ears perked.
“I don’t know, and I don’t want to find out!” exclaimed Lewis, turning around and heading back to the driveway.
Clark kept staring down at the city, mesmerized by all of the buildings and houses, “Come on, Lewis, pleeeaaasseee?”
Lewis turned around and looked at his adventurous companion…
What do you think? Will Lewis convince Clark to stay in their yard or will they find out what’s in Hermann, read about it next month, on our Hermann Hill Blog!

Lewis & Clark: Hermann Hill Inn Explorers

Pulling up to Hermann Hill Vineyard Inn & Spa, guests are greeted by two of Missouri’s greatest explorers, Lewis & Clark: Canine Companions.  That’s right, Lewis & Clark, Hermann Hill’s very own chocolate labs, will usually greet guests with their tongues out and their tails wagging, but no worries, they’ll mind their manners as our visitors walk by, expecting no more than a quick pat on the head.  So what’s a day like in the paws of these two best friends?  It’s full of fun, adventure, and the occasional dog treat.
Early in the morning, Lewis and Clark take their post on the far end of the driveway, watching over the hilltop as employees pull up.  The day is already a little brighter seeing these two bright eyed, fuzzy faces saying hello while heading into work.  They take their job very seriously, being at complete attention as everyone walks by.
As the day goes on, and the sun rises higher in the sky, they may decide to take a leave from the hot, black asphalt and take a stroll through our Norton vineyards, relaxing in the shade of these leafy vines.  If given the opportunity to watch these guys, you’ll notice they don’t take a step without the other following close by.  When it comes to Lewis and Clark, no dog gets left behind.
Guests staying in the Inn have the opportunity to give treats to these furry friends, found in the refrigerator of their room.  Undivided attention will be given to the holder of the treat as they’re told to sit, but once the tasty snack is given, Lewis and Clark are soon off to their next exciting adventure.
Like any great explorer, Lewis and Clark take the occasional detour, and stray from their intended path.  If seen in lands unknown to these precocious pups, just give us a call here at Hermann Hill Vineyard Inn & Spa so our friendly watch dogs can return home, once again.
